If you’re looking to do more traveling, but have limited time off or budgeting constraints (like we all do), then 3-Day Weekends are the perfect sweet spot to squeeze more travel into your year! These quick – but not fast and furious – trips allow for plenty of exploring without eating too much into your time at work or your bank account.
With smart planning and strategic uses of 3-day weekend trips, you can easily visit more destinations each year while not feeling like you’re falling behind at work or blowing through your PTO bank or your actual bank account.
Your paid time off is meant to be used, having a strategy can stretch it out a lot further. The beauty of 3-day weekend travel is that you are either only using a single day of PTO at a time or you’re taking advantage of a company holiday and you don’t have to use any!
Pro Tip: If you’re using a day of PTO to create the 3-day weekend, remember that taking a Friday off is no different than taking the Monday off – which can save you a bunch of money on flights/hotels – so it’s always worth going into the PTO request with a plan.
Most major US cities are perfect candidates for 3-day weekends. Some you may need more than 3 days to get the full experience, but you can still enjoy your time on a long weekend timeframe.
All the trips destinations listed above are places we’ve visited before, and we’ll stick to giving honest feedback on what is/isn’t worth seeing in a limited amount of time. Our mission is to provide you with ideas, tips, and lessons learned to make your trips fun and memorable – and to take as many as possible within your PTO framework. Let us know if we’re missing any destinations that you think are good fits for quick weekend getaways!
